Salamander was formed in June of 2004 in a basement in Raytown. While searching for a band to fulfill his requirements, Russ Divine traded E-mails with Mike Evans and came to jam with what was, at the time a band known as Triggerfish. Three shows, and plenty of practice later, Salamander was formed and became KC's newest high-energy party band.

Russ Divine: Vocals, Harmonica & Guitars

Russ is a 16 year veteran of KC's rock , metal and blues scenes, playing with such notable bands as Healer, Carpe' Diem, Sojourne', Teazer and Red-eye Russ and The Rollers. A four time top honors recipient from the Missouri Music Educators Association, Russ's Led Zeppelin, Rush, and Muddy Waters influenced vocals bring a power to the show that is unmatched.

His deep, soulful harmonica is a perfect compliment to the energetic play of his band-mates and brings a dynamic that is unique to the area's bands

While a relative novice at the guitar, he brings a soul to the rhythms that move the audience and inspire deep and powerful feelings.

Jason Mastin: Lead guitars

A master of the six, seven and twelve strings, Jason has taught many an aspiring guitarist the way to fulfillment.

His awe inspiring leads and technically amazing riffs have left audiences from KC to Oklahoma City slack-jawed.

As one of the area's most successful magicians, Jason also works his magic on Salamander's line-up by bringing the fun and exciting influences of Primus, Iron Maiden and Steve Vai.

His attitude and energy are not to be missed or dismissed easily

Mark Evans: Guitars, Vocals

Mark, a 20 year resident of Independence, MO, was a founding member of KC's scene staple, Hollow Pointe.

His solid rhythms influenced by such diverse artists as Ozzy Osbourne and The Eagles is evident as the Stratocaster interacts with his Mesa Boogie amp to form an integral part of Slamander's Foundation and his rare but powerful solos bring forth a reflection of experience and art that is the perfect marriage to Jason's technically proficient riffs.

Mike Evans: Bass, Vocals

Mike, as the rock solid foundation of Salamander on and off the stage, brings his years of experience and wisdom to the section of the band that needs such savior' faire.

His diverse influences, such as 3 doors down, The Eagles, 38 Special, The Beatles, Lit, and REO Speedwagon have allowed him to explore the many facets of his instrument of choice .

A charter member of KC's own Sleepyhead, Mike spent almost a decade entertaining the eager crowds of KC's bars and clubs.

David Gillispie: Percussion and Drums

Originally from KC and raised in Blue Springs, David always had a passion for the things that went bump in the night and has found his inspiration in such masters of the rhythm as Neil Peart, Dave Grohl and Carter Beauford of The Dave Mathews Band.

As a sound engineer for Mike's band, Sleepyhead, David learned his way around the Kansas City scene and a fully stocked bar.

David's emotional state, while always in question, leaves one obvious observation: Music does soothe the savage beast.
